My interest and curiosity about the black experience continues to this day. In I published a book length study on legendary African-American film director Charles Burnett () to coincide with the opening at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) of the first complete retrospective of Burnett’s work, which I conceived and co-organized. The study of why people engage in certain behaviors and ways of thinking is the study of motivation. The word motivation is derived from the Latin word movere, which means "to move." The main study findings are confirmed by analyzing ATR data from two Canadian provinces, namely, Alberta and Saskatchewan.
